Your adventure begins with convenient hotel pick-up in Fortuna, after which we’ll head to our operations center in the Fosforo area for a quick briefing and final preparations before the trek begins.
Once we're all set, we’ll begin our hike towards the breathtaking San Gerardo viewpoint, passing through some of Costa Rica’s most diverse and beautiful landscapes. This unique journey will see you cross the Caño Negro River three times—each crossing adding excitement and a refreshing touch to the experience.
Throughout the trek, you’ll move from the vibrant rainforest into the mystical cloud forest, with our expert guide providing fascinating insights into the wildlife and explaining the contrasts between these two distinct ecosystems.
This invigorating hike covers approximately 10 kilometers with an elevation gain of 800 meters. It’s estimated to take around 5 hours, so a good fitness level is essential. Be prepared for muddy, challenging trails that wind through mountainous terrain. Proper hiking footwear is a must to ensure comfort and safety.
Once we arrive, you’ll be transported to Monteverde’s downtown or back to Fortuna, depending on your itinerary, to conclude your unforgettable day.
